The event, consisting of a number of local history groups, was held on Saturday 25th February 2023 at the Menphys Hub, Bassett Street, South Wigston.
Three Trustees – Carolyn, Sandra and Nick – manned the BHT stand, and declared the day to have been a great success, not only for the Trust but for the other history organisations that took part. Carolyn reported that:
“It was an early start but well worth it. Nick, Sandra and myself arrived at approx. 8.45am to set up, and Trust members Andy and Chris visited during the morning. We now have 4 new paid up members, and it gave us a chance to use the “SumUp” machine for card payments, which is very simple to use. We also have 2 people interested and I will be in touch with them. I was also given information about funding from Asda. We were able to visit the other stallholders and exchange contact details. It was well attended; there were nearly 200 visitors coming through the doors (Nick commented “according to the organisers, they had 193 visitors through the door – and I think a large proportion of them stopped at out stall!”). We had two tables which we did need, as you can see in the photos that Nick took. The cost was £15 a table. Members of my family arrived about half an hour before closing and were then able to help Nick load up the car. It was a long day but worth it.
