Armistice Day November 11th 2025

On Tuesday November 11th the Trustees met to lay a wreath at the war memorial in Belgrave St. Peter’s.

The Chairman of the Trustees, Richard Norburn, led the Trustees in an opening prayer followed by the observance of the two-minute silence at 11am. Richard then recited the Kohima Epitaph, followed by a prayer. The wreath was then laid on the memorial on behalf of the members of the Belgrave Heritage Trust by Trustee Andy Warren.

The Kohima Epitaph is the epitaph engraved on the Memorial of the 2nd British Division in the cemetery of Kohima (North-East India). It reads:

‘When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,
For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.’

Due to insurance and Health and Safety reasons, the Trustees are not permitted to advertise or invite members to the wreath-laying. Our thanks go to the Leicester Diocese for allowing the Trustees to hold the simple service of remembrance, and to Andrew Granger & Co. for arranging access to St. Peter’s.
