To end our 2024 series of talks at Cross Corners, we held our Christmas party for our members and their partners, plus invited guests.
After the opening greeting by Nick, the party got under way, providing an opportunity for everyone to sit and chat, enjoy the buffet and attempt to find the answers to the quiz – not as easy as it seemed!
The quiz, created once again by Nick and Sandra, consisted of eighteen photographs, submitted by members and Trustees that were taken when they were very young. The challenge was to identify who’s photograph matched the list of names provided – a seemingly simple challenge which proved to be anything but! A clever twist was that two names featured twice, making identification even harder. Chloe was the eventual winner with a score of seven correct answers, which proved how hard it actually was, but everyone enjoyed the challenge and there were a number of gasps of disbelief as the identity of the each photograph was revealed.
Everyone had been given a raffle ticket on arrival, and the afternoon concluded with the drawing of the raffle and a closing address by Nick (which included the inevitable joke, which drew more than a few groans after the punch-line!). The afternoon was deemed a great success, and was enjoyed by everyone who attended.
Thanks go to Nick and Sandra for organising the raffle and the quiz, Carolyn, Christine and Jane for the catering, and to Kate from Cross Corners for providing seats and tables, etc. and the opportunity to use Cross Corners for our meetings.
Nick is working on the speaker-list for 2025, and we look forward to next year’s season at Cross Corners and Belgrave Hall.
Have a great Christmas, a Happy New Year, and we look forward to welcoming you to any or all of our activities next year.
