The following dates have been confirmed for our monthly talks at Cross Corners. Any updates or changes will be added as soon as they are confirmed, so please keep looking!
The Autumn talks are all in the afternoon
October 14th at 2pm John Martin-Jones, always a popular speaker, will be our guest speaker. The subject of John’s talk is “A Very Special Man” – the Rev. Richard Stephens, vicar of Belgrave St. Peter’s from 1824 until 1871. An academic and a cleric, Richard Stephens’s story is far more than just that of a “local vicar”.
November 11th at 2pm “MAY CLEMENTS’ WAR”. May Clements, alias Sandra Moore, brings a flavour of the Second World War as experienced by the ordinary women of Leicestershire. Gleaned from her personal reminiscences of family, friends and acquaintances, May pauses from her work to bring you the gossip of 1940. A very appropriate subject for Armistice Day.
